Norfolk Big Rugby Weekend 2026 – Norfolk RFU
Here’s a message from the Norfolk President, Sally Lloyd:
Welcome to the ninth Norfolk Big Rugby Weekend, kindly hosted for a second time by Wymondham RFC.
Over the course of the weekend, we are delighted that so many Norfolk clubs will be represented.
Norfolk RFU’s objective is straightforward: to promote rugby within the County and bring the Norfolk rugby community together in celebration of the season. The Men’s competition this year has been somewhat challenging for various reasons to say the least, but Saturday sees four senior Men’s finals together with the Women’s final between Wymondham and Diss.
On Sunday there are the Youth Finals, both Boys and Girls, again with a good spread of representation from across the County and a little beyond.
Congratulations to all the teams that have reached their respective finals and thanks to all the teams that have supported the competition in earlier rounds.
Thank you to the many club volunteers who coach, provide Physio/First Aid, transport and wash muddy kit; clubs cannot function without your help.
Welcome to all the supporters of individual clubs and of rugby in general. Please may I take this opportunity to remind everyone to support your team positively and remember the Codes of Conduct and the core values of our wonderful game: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
Events like this require a huge amount of time and planning from a broad band of volunteers, from the Norfolk RFU committee, led by our Chair Mike Phillips and NBRWE sub-committee, led by Gary Lee and Mark Ballman and of course from our host club Wymondham RFC under the direction of President Mark Ferguson, Chair Paul Wootton and Club Safeguarding Officer David Clover together with Facilities Manager Liam Browning. I would like to thank them, their teams, our generous sponsors and everyone who has contributed to the staging of this weekend.
Finally, and very importantly, a huge thank you to Adrian Hendrick chair of Norfolk Referees and his excellent team of Match Officials. They too are here to enjoy the rugby and of course without them we would have no Big Weekend.
Have a wonderful time and best of luck to all the Teams.
Let’s hope the sun shines.
Sally Lloyd President, Norfolk RFU
